A Principal Process Design and Development Engineer job in the Canton, OH area is available through Modis Engineering. The Principal Process Engineer will provide technical direction to plan, develop, and implement manufacturing processes and concepts. Technical expertise is necessary to support new plant, product, and process start-ups and continuous improvement activities. The role requires experience in the finishing processes such as centerless grinding or superfinishing.

Principal Process Design Engineer job responsibilities include:

Technical support in bearing manufacturing finishing processes such as grinding, hard turning, and superfinishing, providing subject matter expertise.
Leading or supporting equipment rebuilds/upgrades/runoff, installations, debug, startups, troubleshooting, and defining specs for new equipment. Knowledge of grinding cycle design and optimization, problem-solving through process development, process modeling, and data analysis including process capability studies.
Assist in technical strategy development for deployment of bearing manufacturing processes.
Capital project support including project leadership, selection of new assets or upgrades, implementation into plant sites, cost tracking, and completion within budget.
Tooling design and consumables used in different bearing manufacturing processes, design for manufacturability, and root cause analysis


Five plus years of experience within manufacturing process engineering related to finishing processes such as centerless grinding, hard turning, and superfinishing
Minimum of a BS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
Familiarity with bearing or gear industries is a big plus, or other related automotive, aerospace, or medical device industry with similar finishing processes
Knowledge of tooling design and understanding of design for manufacturability
Demonstrated project management skills
Ability to influence internal and external customers
Analytical and variance analysis skills
Strong communication abilities and a team player attitude
Ability to travel about 30% of the time
