We are seeking a seasoned and highly qualified project manager for a full time, direct hire position with our client in the Reston, VA area.
 
The Senior IT Project Manager is a hands-on technical project management position with high visibility and large levels of responsibility. The PM is responsible for providing end-to-end cross-discipline leadership of IT projects ranging from business application and infrastructure implementations, to business change initiatives. Accountable for on-time, on-budget, high quality project delivery, the PM plans and manages the entire project, including Analysis, Design, Development, Quality Assurance and Deployment. As a senior project manager, the PM is expected to manage multiple high complexity, high risk, and/or business critical projects; mentor more junior project managers; and actively champion and contribute to continuous improvement of PM best practices.
 
Specific responsibilities include project planning and management, team management, process management and improvement & change management.
 
Qualifications & Key Requirements of the Successful Candidate:


  • Have a understanding of Project Management methodologies and the system development life cycle (SDLC). Able to blend and “right-size” these practices to fit the project and business need.
  • Be driven & proactive and a do-er.
  • Be a strong communicator with the ability to pull out and summarize information and tailor communication style and content for a variety of audiences. Comfortable and confident presenting to executives.
  • Have an understanding of the “bigger picture”. Be able to conceptualize where and how the project fits into the company’s mission. Must be able to establish project goals, validate and confirm acceptance, challenge stakeholders, and hold stakeholders accountable.
  • Able to take a consultative approach to understand requirements, drill into details, and resolve issues.
  • Able to facilitate resolution of technical issues. Capable of interpreting technical information and communicating this information to different audiences in a way they can understand.
  • Able to lead a variety of different types of projects including COTS implementations, system integration, infrastructure, business process.
  • Building trusted relationships with team members and project stakeholders.
  • Able to effectively address and resolve conflict within and across teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment; the ability to multitask on different projects concurrently and react quickly to movements in the business is critical.

 
Experience:
•8-10 + years of progressively responsible experience managing a combination of software implementation, system integration, and business or organizational change management projects
•B.S., Computer Science, Business Administration or equivalent experience
•Experience managing technical projects using project management best practices
•HR and financial systems implementation experience (desired)
•Experience managing 3rd party COTS implementations and/or Infrastructure projects (desired) and experience managing projects with remote teams (desired), working in a Corporate IT department (desired), working in a PMO (desired) and experience or background in requirements analysis and/or IT consulting (desired)
