A R&D Electrical Technician job in San Jose, CA is available courtesy of Modis Engineering. This R&D Electrical Technician role work under limited supervision in our R&D engineers, scientists, and/or teams in the development, testing, and analysis of laser products, materials, processes, or equipment. Ths is a one year contract position.

R&D Electrical Technician - Responsibilities

Provide hand-on experience in handling electronic assemblies in soldering, crimping, and rework.

Provide proficiency in electronic test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, power sources, and hand-hold meters.

Provide electronic board (PCBA) bringing-up and testing.

Provide board level and system level trouble shooting and failure analysis.

Provide overall laser system setup, interaction of control system with devices such as optical devices, high voltage power supply, and cooling system

Provide effective and clear documentation.

Maintain lab part inventory, cleanness, and equipment calibrations.
Quality Systems Duties and Responsibilities:

Build Quality into all aspects of their work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.


AA Degree or equivalent work experience in related discipline and 1 year of related experience.

Basic knowledge in electronic design and control systems.

Must be reliable and effective.

Must be a good team player, effective communicator.

Able to work in a class-1000 clean room.

Proficiency with general computers programs, including Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point and Excel)

Must be able to work independently

Ability to lift 50 lbs. with no physical restrictions
Preferred Qualifications:

BS Degree or equivalent work experience in related discipline

Understanding of components and supplier quality standards.

Strong interpersonal skills – interacting with multiple internal customers daily.
Quality System Requirements

In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.

Assures that appropriate resources (personnel, tools, etc.) are maintained in order to assure Quality System compliance and adherence to the BSC Quality Policy.

Establishes and promotes a work environment that supports the Quality Policy and Quality System
