A R&D Technician II job in San Jose, CA is available courtesy of Modis Engineering. Under minimal direction and supervision, conducts medical device testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and fabrication of prototypes and fixtures of moderate to high complexity. Participates as a team member generating and maintaining complete documentation necessary for assigned project tasks. This is a long term contract up to 18 months. Hourly pay is between $19-$28 an hour.

Key Responsibilities:

Assemble laser fibers, including Green light and Holmium. Duties include fiber stripping, cleaving, crimping, epoxying, curing, and final inspection under a microscope.

Conduct fiber tests, including mechanical, thermal and optical performance evaluation.

Prepare tissue and stone for laser tissue interaction.

Perform laser fiber and tissue/stone ablation.

Quality Systems Duties and Responsibilities:

Build Quality into all aspects of their work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.


High school or 2 years college degree

Good hand-eye coordination and use of basic hand tools a must.

Fiber-optics experience.
