A R&D Technician in San Jose, CA is available courtesy of Modis Engineering. Candidates will have Fiber Optics experience, good hand-eye coordination and use of basic hand tools.

**1 1/2 year contract**

R&D Technician Job Description:
Under minimal direction and supervision, conducts medical device testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and fabrication of prototypes and fixtures of moderate to high complexity. Participates as a team member generating and maintaining complete documentation necessary for assigned project tasks.

Key Responsibilities :
• Assemble laser fibers, including Green light and Holmium. Duties include fiber stripping, cleaving, crimping, epoxying, curing, and final inspection under a microscope.

• Conduct fiber tests, including mechanical, thermal and optical performance evaluation.

• Prepare tissue and stone for laser tissue interaction.

• Perform laser fiber and tissue/stone ablation.

Quality Systems Duties and Responsibilities:
Build Quality into all aspects of their work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.

Education/Experience/Skills required to successfully perform the above duties/tasks:

• High school or 2 years college degree
• Good hand-eye coordination and use of basic hand tools a must.
• Fiber-optics experience.
