Our client in Des Moines has an opening for a direct hire Security Analyst. This is an opportunity to join an exciting and growing Security Operations team. This position will report to the Head of IT Security and will be responsible for providing IT security support across a global organization.
 
Most important skills:
• Technical and Analytical mindset
• 5 years experience would be great, or 4 years and CISSP.
• STRONGLY prefer to have: Splunk, TripWire, Tanium, McAfee, Quadrant, Palo Alto  Traps, Nessus vulnerability scanning
• Experience in incident response, malware analysis, and threat analysis
 
 
The successful candidate will be well-versed in security operations, cyber security tools, intrusion detection, and secured networks. Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
 
• Performing ongoing analysis of security tools and the evaluation of available technology capabilities against the security needs of the Firm
• The testing and implementation of security measures that enhance and protect data or operational capabilities across the Firm
• Providing data to show the state of security for the purposes of management reporting
• Providing network defense system implementation, installation and configuration support by identifying, developing and facilitating implementation of initiatives and programs designed to enhance the security of the Firms network and data
• Conducting formal and informal technical/engineering studies, analyses, acquisition and systems engineering support that are critical to enable achievement of program goals and objectives
• Providing notifications, accurate analysis and reporting of events and incidents, including liaising with suppliers and other business teams
• Performing security alert detection and analysis activities across multiple technologies to ensure that security incidents are identified in a timely manner (e.g. Quadrant/Sagan, Splunk, Tripwire)
• Performing regular vulnerability scans and review results
• Collaborating with IT Compliance on continuous improvement of the Firm’s security posture
• Updating security documentation to include tactics, techniques and standard operating procedures
• Participating in a 24x7 security incident response on-call rotation
 
Desirable Skills:
 
• CISSP, CISA, CRISC, GIAC SANS (such as GSEC, GCIH, GCFE) or similar certification
• Strong experience (5-10 years managing and implementing) in:
o Incident and Event Management (CSIRT preferred).
o Security configuration of the following: Windows server, Windows desktop, Ubuntu, Redhat, Mac OSX, Active Directory
o Vulnerability Scanning (Nessus)
o Malware Analysis and Threat Analysis, including physical and virtualized environments
o Security technologies such as: McAfee ePO, PhishMe, Carbon Black, Kali Linux, Metasploit,
o performing/managing black box, grey box, and white box penetration testing including network assessment, social engineering, control validation and proof of concept.
• Exposure (1-3 years managing and implementing) to:  
o InTune, BlueCoat, Splunk, Tanium, Palo Alto Traps
o Scripting (read, simple edits) (PowerShell, Python, VB, etc)
o Application level security knowledge (preferably including .NET and/or C# platforms)
• Excellent analytical and problem solving capabilities
• Ability to work independently with or without direction and/or supervision
• Ability to prioritize and multitask
• Flexibility and adaptability in work approach
• Ability to work under pressure and be results-orientated
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated team player with team-oriented interpersonal skills; ability to effectively interface with a broad range of people and roles across the business
• Accepts responsibility and personal accountability
