Modis, a leader in the IT staffing industry, is working with a client to fill a Senior Network Engineer Job in Cleveland, Ohio. The Senior Network Engineer will take a lead role in installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links.
The Network Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability and integrity of the network. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization.

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience
  • At least 5 years of related experience; 7+ years preferred
  • CCNP Preferred
  • Security, DataCenter, and Design
  • Experience with firewalls, specifically Cisco ASA firewalls, Security policy managers (Cisco ACS, Cisco ISE, Aruba ClearPass) Security Management and Monitoring products (SolarWinds firewall security manager, Cisco Prime Security Manager, etc), and Intrusion Prevention Devices (Sourcefire, etc) preferred.
  • NAT, PAT, access-Lists, DMZs, IPSEC VPN tunnels, SSL client VPNs, and DMVPNs
  • Datacenter Configuration and Management including both traditional Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, and NX OS and protocols such as HSRP, VSS, and VPC
  • L3 concepts and protocols, specifically BGP, EIGRP, and HSRP
  • L2 switching concepts such as Spanning-tree (RSTP, PVSTP+, 802.1q Trunking), port-security, DHCP snooping, dynamic arp inspection, root guard, bpduguard, and etherchannels
  • Layer 2 extension technologies such as OTV
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, security, and wireless design and implementation
  • Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices
  • Strong, hands-on technical knowledge of network, including Cisco IOS and Cisco Nexus OS
  • Industry-standard best practices for routing, switching, wireless, and security
  • Managing, Monitoring, and Testing a Disaster Recovery DataCenter network.
  • Advanced configurations such as QOS, Multicast, and SLA Monitors.
  • Management of wireless networks utilizing a Cisco Wireless Controller, lightweight Access Points, and FlexConnect
  • Management of wireless networks utilizing autonomous Access Points and wireless bridges
  • Network monitoring platforms and protocols including SNMP and Netflow
  • Network management platforms, such as SolarWinds to maintain backups, auto provision equipment, and push out configurations to a large set of devices
  • AAA (Authentication, Authorization, Accounting) and specifically TACACS+ utilizing Cisco ACS to authenticate users, provide the correct level of authorized access, and to log specific commands for accounting purposes
