Sr. Technical Project Manager Needed In Dulles, VA
Plan, manage and execute varied software development, COTS and/or other IT systems implementation projects. Gather information on the front end to determine project parameters and specifications, work breakdown structure, and resource needs. Report on progress to project stakeholders. Participate in the CM (Change Management) process and the deployment of solutions to the production environment. Assist in providing technical oversight of ongoing software development projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage and execute course of relatively large and/or complex project(s)     providing day-to-day management and oversight, following established project management methodology
  • Identify, track and resolve project interdependencies and related execution issues/risks
  • Actively engage key stakeholders
  • Closely partner with business stakeholders to assess feasibility, complexity, and scope of new capabilities and solutions
  • Develop and manage work breakdown structure for multiple projects
  • Lead project technical sizing estimation sessions
  • Track course of project from meetings
  • Report on progress of project to include milestones, resources and financials
  • Facilitate, track and manage changes to scope and requirements through established change management process
  • Collaborate with architecture teams to ensure consistent solution design and integration in direct support of business objectives
  • Collaborate with data teams to provide project management oversight and scope management for data component(s) of supported software development projects
  • Ensure that all capabilities delivered align with original business objectives, IT strategies, and design intent.
  • Drive continuous improvement; may include design, definition of roadmaps, standardization of processes and methodologies
  • Collaborate and maintain working relationships with appropriate technology vendor contacts and peer company contacts

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Five or more years of managing multiple IT systems implementation projects
  • Demonstrated ability to work within Global IT and business team
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a sourced model using onsite/offshore development, support, QA, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate and drive teams toward delivering and achieving goals
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple high-priority tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to operate at strategic and tactical levels
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business partners, developers, and end users
  • Process analysis and systematic thinking
  • Ability to prioritize among a large number of requirements
  • Experience with agile and iterative software development methodologies
  • PMP Certification


  • Experience managing projects in the financial services industry
