Server Systems Engineer – Houston, TX

Modis is seeking a Server Systems Engineer for a Contract to Hire opportunity; will be responsible for designing, testing, and implementing enterprise systems to meet business requirements. Be a part of a smaller team where you get to work on storage, security, server virtualization & application integration.  
Additional responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain standards for system monitoring, performance, system maintenance, remote site support, virus and patch management for corporate and facility systems.
  • System configuration and standards for more than 750 servers and more than 200 locations supporting more than 22,000 users.
  • Responsible for design, implementation, integration, and support of information systems optimally supporting the enterprise and organizational requirements.

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years server operating systems and systems integration experience specifically in Microsoft, Linux and/or HPUX platform systems. Experience with Windows Servers 2003-2012 R2 integration and troubleshooting is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in providing enterprise system support for a large enterprise consisting of hundreds of servers, thousands of users, and multiple locations.
  • Experience with LDAP protocols and tools and LDAP compliant directories (eDirectory, OpenLDAP, Oracle, etc.) and Active Directory is required.
  • Experience with virtualization in a VMware ESXi environment including storage, memory, and CPU capacity planning and software maintenance.  
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft management utilities and task automation including WSUS and PowerShell scripting.
  • Responsible for ensuring HIPPA compliance and utilizing security best practices for application integration, authentication and access.
  • Responsible for supporting in-house development team efforts including IIS and .Net applications and infrastructure.
  • Experience with HP ProLiant server systems and management tools are required.  
  • Knowledge and experience with implementing Microsoft SQL Servers and Storage Area Networks such as HP EVA
  • Experience with any of the following is desirable:  PeopleSoft, Kronos, RightFax, Lotus Notes, TrendMicro, Desktop and server management platforms (ZENWorks, Nagios, Altiris, LANDesk, etc.).
  • Must possess leadership skills to lead a team in the resolution of difficult problems as well as distribution and deployment of projects. .  
  • Excellent verbal communications skills, as well as exceptional customer service skills are required.
