A Sr. Bearings Design Engineer job in the Akron, OH area is available through Modis Engineering. The Sr. Design Engineer will create product designs that meet customer requirements and support the definition, understanding, and application of engineering specifications and design standards that align products with customer needs and manufacturability. The role requires five plus years of experience in mechanical design engineering and product development in component design of bearings or other critical motion parts. A BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is also required.
This is a full-time direct role with a growing world leader in the aerospace industry. Full relocation packages are available for the right candidate.

Sr. Design Engineer job responsibilities include:

Translate customer requirements into product designs and specifications using established design rules and engineering practices
Create final product designs that are aligned with design standards and manufacturing (DFM)
Run design algorithms, perform calculations, and create CAD or product design layouts
Develop product and design rules, standards, engineering systems, tools, standard work, training materials, and product data structure
Support manufacturing in resolution of design for manufacturability issues
Provide technical guidance and training to design associates
Lead product engineering support for growth, cost reduction, and/or continuous improvement projects on time to the program schedules


QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of 5 years of experience within Mechanical Engineering and Product Design and Development, including 3D CAD Design, modeling tools, and GD&T
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Metal manufacturing knowledge
Skills in component design of bearings, gears, or other critical motion parts, and precision or aerospace components
Demonstrated ability to define product design work including supporting new product introductions and process development
Experience with design and process improvements, creating methodologies, deriving design parameters, establishing and documenting design approaches, risk reduction, and creating design standards or standardized approaches
Team and communication skills and demonstrated technical capabilities
Attention to detail and ability to plan and lead individual projects independently
