Responsible for ensuring the security, efficiency and continuous functioning of the Association’s infrastructure, telecommunications, and building systems (e.g. A/V) to meet organization needs. Oversees daily operations and functions of the Network Infrastructure and Support Team. Responsible for providing management oversight for technology projects related to infrastructure, managed services, preventive maintenance, and security audits, including coordinating staff and materials, ensuring that specifications are followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget.

  • Plans, organizes, maintains and monitors the
  • information systems and networks.  Proactively recommends and implements changes in types of hardware/software, technology, procedures and techniques to improve efficiency of equipment operation.
  • Manages and motivates a team of technical staff focused on infrastructure, network, security and support with a focus on providing outstanding service, responsiveness and communications. Manages staff, including identifying position duties, scheduling, training, professional development, performance reviews and reporting relationships.  Provides written employee performance reviews in accordance with organization procedures, counsels and guides Infrastructure and Security employee’s development. Primary liaison with senior level management.
  • Responsible for all facets of the network (LAN/WAN) and all connected computer systems, servers and peripherals including the administration of the network infrastructure (wired, wireless and cellular), physical and virtual server environments (including SANs) and related equipment at the Washington, D.C. office.
  • ¿ Oversees all aspects of network and application security including equipment, access control, patching, annual security audits and policies. Coordinates and manages major projects.
  • Oversees the continued development of the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) to ensure security, stability, performance, and access. Manages all network and workstation software applications.  Recommends and implements new or upgraded software packages that will improve efficiency of the operations.
  • Oversees the voice (VoIP) and audiovisual systems including technical and user support and monitoring policies regarding usage.  Coordinates interfacing activities with the Office Management department.
  • Ensures regularly scheduled preventative maintenance is performed on all systems.
  • Maintains Disaster Recovery Plan and coordinates disaster recovery testing with selected vendors. Provides guidance on organizational wide business continuity initiatives.
  • Coordinates service with outside vendors according to predefined contract conditions.
  • Ensures all staff are trained and supported on the use of all information systems. Determines the best approach to facilitate training (outsourcing or in-house) to meet organizational needs. 
  • Works with the EVP to investigate, identify, explore, and review new and emerging technology that will improve existing business processes. Assists the EVP with responsibilities related to short-and long-range planning for the Infrastructure and Security department and corresponding budget preparation and maintenance.
  • Monitors the Infrastructure and Security department’s annual expense budget and Computer and Equipment capital budget.  Provides guidance to other departments in budgeting technology needs and tracks requests from managers.


  • Performs security maintenance on LAN to protect against software viruses, certain modifications, and illegal entry into systems.
  • Oversees the administration and management of the VMware virtual networking environment. Maintains upgrades and migration tasks related to the VMware servers.
  • Manages all aspects of the LAN/WAN including LAN analysis and upgrades to ensure that file, print, fax, and communication server performance meets user requirements. Manages the wireless network and monitor all traffic going across it.
  • Oversees maintenance of all servers including replication software, ensuring that replication is current. Performs routine procedures to proactively identify potential system problems.
  • Administers LUNs, disk space, and replication associated with the Storage Area Networks.
  • Manages the network fat pipe, firewall, routers, switches, and intrusion prevention equipment to allow a continuous flow of data and voice packets across the network. Manages the network structure and design to best facilitate a secure environment. This includes the continued monitoring of the DMZ and all vulnerable interfaces.
  • Maintains current computer cabling diagrams for LAN. Maintains current configuration of devices attached to LAN.

Hardware & Software

  • Coordinates the development of -installed hardware and non-departmentalized software operating procedures.
  • Takes the initiative in making recommendations and implementing changes to the configuration and type of hardware/software and related equipment.
  • Proactively plans and organizes information equipment to enable the receipt of its maximum potential in a cost-efficient manner.

  • Keeps apprised of developments in hardware and software enhancements in conjunction with current and future goals of all systems.

Support & Training

  • Manages IS Help Desk to support computer users with hardware and software problems.
  • Performs troubleshooting techniques in order to locate the cause of the problem and to ensure problem does not occur again.
  • Maintains Help Desk Software for prioritizing departmental requests. Oversees proper delegation and documentation of all support calls.
  • Oversees helpdesk reports to track quantity and quality of support. Find areas for improvement and discuss with helpdesk staff.
  • Prepares operating procedures and ensures users receive training.
  • Conducts in-house hardware and software training for users on advanced topics.
  • Trains, develops and supervises the Infrastructure and Security team by providing resources and assistance necessary for each to perform their job functions.  

Project Management

  • Gathers resources necessary to launch new projects efficiently.  Conducts individual project kickoff meetings for the purpose of team introductions, coordination of project details, and reconfirmation of expectations.
  • Conducts individual post-project review meetings in order to ensure that all deliverables met or exceeded expectations, wrap up outstanding project details, and declare the project complete.
  • Coordinates large projects with the Network Team and other departments to ensure proper completion and continued education and growth.
  • Coordinates and manages major projects by working with IS staff and vendors.

VoIP & Cellular Telephony

  • Responsible for the continuous running of the VoIP phone system.
  • Performs upgrades, maintenance, and support for the phone system and all related application such as unified messaging.
  • Maintains inventory of all phones and phone equipment.
  • Oversees phone setup for new users.
  • Maintains cell phone boosters’ equipment to ensure complete coverage in the building.

Other Duties

  • Oversees the management aspects of the Audio Visual needs for the organization.
  • Maintains comprehensive Disaster Recovery Plan and works with staff to keep the plan current. Coordinates disaster recovery testing.
  • Works with the EVP to determine revise and or develop new policies and goals for the Information Systems Departments based on the Association’s needs.

  • Performs routine maintenance to ensure all data and voice connections are functioning properly.
  • Works with phone companies on any issues that may arise with telecommunications issues stemming either at the gateway or on the PSTN.
  • Manages all aspects of the Audio Visual needs for the organization. Oversee the setup and distribution of equipment as well as support both onsite and offsite.
  • Administers the phone system and network of the clients remote site in Washington, D.C.
  • Utilizes a variety of resources (continuing education sessions, trade literature, professional networking, etc.) to keep abreast of changes in the industry
  • Prepares a monthly report to the EVP outlining the status of technology-related projects
  • Researches software and hardware for new recommendations for the network
  • Orders hardware, software, and computer supplies as needed
  • Ability to escalate issues when necessary


  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or other related technology field required.
  • Seven-years of experience managing computer and network systems in a LAN/WAN environment.
  • Five-years of senior level management experience in the IT field including supervisory experience
  • Must have an established security certification(s) like Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP) and or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
  • Strategic planning experience and proven team leadership abilities
  • Project Management experience
  • Comprehension of applications, utilities, and procedures currently installed on the LAN and Personal Systems.
  • Basic knowledge of programming and thorough knowledge of peripherals
