Systems Administrator Job in Rochester NY:
Direct or Contract to Hire
 
The Systems Administrators are responsible for installing, maintaining, and supporting internal and hosted solutions and applications. They provide escalated IT support to internal staff and work with the IT team and IT Project Manager(s) on assigned projects.
 
Desired Skills and Knowledge of the Systems Administrator Job in Rochester NY:
 


  • Knowledge of MS Operating and Network Systems, SAN, server administration and all network protocols used in business class topologies. Some Unix and/or Office 365 would be very helpful but not required.

 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

 

  • Proficient in Database software, particularly MSSQL.

 

  • Possesses strong problem solving and analytical skills.

 

  • Takes initiative and ability to exercise independent judgment.

 

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, and respond to questions from management, clients/customers, and vendors.
  •  
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

  • Ability to focus on client needs with a commitment to quality and customer service.

 

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

 

  • Ability to document system configurations, topologies, and instructions.

 

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

 

  • Installs, helps specify, and maintains internal systems and applications including updates and patches within the networks.

 

  • Installs and maintains customer-facing systems and applications within hosting environment.

 

  • Resolves internal inquiries including escalated technical incidents and issues, service requests, information requests, and general inquires using a case management system for assignment, routing, and tracking purposes.

 

  • Performs and maintains system back-ups and performs recovery as needed.

 

  • Available for after-hours and/or on-call work in an assigned time period as determined by the Director of IT Services. This includes attendance at monthly system maintenance, as well as to provide adequate support coverage during on-call intervals as needed and directed.

 
 


  • Available as an on call responder to any IT emergency calls and 9-1-1 emergency alerts.

 

  • Recommends solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
  • Prepares and enforces policies to establish a culture of safety and security.
