A Systems Engineer Group Leader position in Charlotte, NC is available with Modis Engineering. This is a Direct Hire position offering a competitive salary and excellent benefits package. The Systems Engineer Group Leader will lead a team of applications engineers in support of the Automated Systems Division.

Some of the Responsibilities of the Systems Engineer Group Leader include:

Provide leadership and direction to a group of applications engineers in relation to system design
Be responsible for applications engineer training within their group
Work with customers to develop an understanding of their business and operational needs
Develop system conceptual solutions appropriate for a customer’s business and operational needs
Analyze/guide analysis of customer data to determine system requirements in terms of storage needs, throughput volume, item velocity zoning, etc.
Develop material flow diagrams and process flow charts
Select technologies and develop a cost effective, wholly integrated solution
Develop or oversee the development of system drawings (CAD)
Review overall system designs of others, owning the overall system architecture
Compile costing for the equipment and services proposed
Develop proposal documents describing system requirements, the proposed solution with scope of work, schedule, pricing, benefit analysis, return-on-investment, etc.
Present the solution to the customer (upper management and operations personnel)
Prepare requirements for simulation during project execution
Ensure that data sets and test cases used in project execution are representative and consistent with system design intent
Act as a consultant to the project engineering/execution team
Ensure that the system design processes and flows created in the sales phase are carried forward into project execution

Some of the Requirements/Qualifications of the Systems Engineer Group Leader include:

Must have strong analytical (problem solving) capability; bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline preferred
Must possess strong business acumen, with the ability tie customer’s operational needs to the impacts of a conceptual solution
Must have excellent interpersonal relations skills and must act in a highly professional manner
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to listen to our customers and to translate their needs effectively through project meetings and written communication
Must be able and willing to teach and guide others within their group
Must be able and willing to travel to support customer visits (generally 2 to 3 trips per month for 1 or 2 nights per trip)
Must be able to obtain a passport for international travel
Must be able to travel internationally for 1 to 2 week periods, mostly in Europe
Must be responsible and efficient in their use of time and support resources
Must have strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Word and Excel and should have proficiency in PowerPoint, Project and MS Access (including the ability to develop database queries)
Must have a knowledge of material handling and material handling technologies, process management & improvement and system analysis
Must have experience and proficiency in AutoCAD or CAD related software
Must have 3-5 years of applicable experience
