Job Description:
 
The Health, Research, Informatics & Technology Division provides a broad range of services related to information technology support for the Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS) in the DC – metro area. We are currently seeking a mid-level Systems Engineer to provide help desk, installation, maintenance and operational support of IT infrastructure software and servers, websites, and databases.  The successful candidate will also be responsible for supporting BizTalk applications, and handling customer incidents as required.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
• Provide Tier 3 help desk and infrastructure support for existing Federal and new digital assets
 
• Address Severity 1, 2, and 3 technical-related issues
 
• Implement and unit test defect fixes for high severity issues
 
• Coordinate with key Federal operational personnel as required
 
• Monitor and provide support for Microsoft BizTalk
 
• Manipulate data within a SQL Server environment
 
• Maintain an Infrastructure as Code environment to facilitate DevOps operations
 
• Assist in the migration of on premises assets to Azure/AWS
 
 
Basic Qualifications:
 
 
• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
 
• 3 years of experience with MS Windows 2012 server environment
 
• 3 years of experience with SQL Server 2012 or newer support and maintenance
 
• 3 years of experience as a Systems Engineer providing Tier 3 help desk and infrastructure support
 
• 2 years of experience supporting Microsoft BizTalk and associated applications.
 
• 2 years of experience working with virtualization technologies like MS Hyper-V and/or VMware
 
• Experience using SQL queries and SQL statements
 
• Experience using Windows scripting technologies i.e. PowerShell/VBScript.
 
• 2 years of experience with Microsoft Azure or AWS
 
• Knowledge of Microsoft Data Protection Manager (DPM) or other Automated Backup Solution
 
• Knowledge of DevOps processes.
 
• Proven ability to compose IT documentation and procedures
 
• Ability to provide occasional after-hours/weekend support, if needed
 
• Able to acquire HHS Public Trust
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
 
• MCSE: Private Cloud Certification or AWS DevOps Engineer Certification
 
• Experience with Chef and Docker
 
• Experience working in an ITIL v3 environment
 
• Knowledge of BizTalk Application Maintenance
 
• Existing HHS Public Trust and/or Credentials.
 
 
Preferred Certifications:
 
 
• ITIL v3 Certification
 
• MCSE: Private Cloud Certification
 
• Network+
 
• Security+ or CISSP
