This Systems Security Engineer Job Position is designed to fill the need of one of our most reputable clients. They are offering a full-time position with extremely competitive pay and great benefits!
 
It requires a high level of technical cybersecurity knowledge, strong communication skills, and an in-depth understanding of systems integration work. It integrates technology protection into the Systems Engineering process. Furthermore, it prevents or delays exploitation of Critical Program Information (CPI) in U.S. defense systems and may include Anti-Tamper (AT) activities. It supports the development of programs and design-to-specifications providing life-cycle protection for critical defense resources. This position requires interactions with Federal Government’s Systems Security Engineers (SSEs) to identify and track Critical Program Information (CPI) and Critical Technology (CT) supporting DoD programs. Working knowledge of DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) required.  Close working relations with both internal and external stakeholders will be of paramount importance to this position. Recommendations given by you will be pivotal in ensuring program success and that DoD systems and date are properly secured.
 
 
Functions and responsibilities:
 


  • Developing and implementing cybersecurity strategies in accordance with contract requirements in the areas of computer software development, computer software assurance, hardware validation, supply chain risk management, architecture and configuration testing, vulnerability management, patch management, release management, and configuration management.
  • Validating cybersecurity strategy and system cybersecurity posture.
  • Analyzing system security requirements derived from contract requirements.
  • Designing system and security architectures.
  • Developing security test strategies.
  • Writing reports outlining the system risk for proposed architectures in accordance with System Security Design and Risk Assessment plans.
  • Providing guidance and oversight of work performed by supply chain as related to the system and cyber security.
  • Co-chairing and participating in Program Protection Work Groups as well as technical review groups.
  • Providing required Information Assurance (IA) and cyber assessment information to internal and external parties.

 
Skills and requirements:
 

  • Possess sound knowledge of requirements and methods to meet requirements delineated in the NIST 800-171 and DoD 5200.01 series of publications.
  • Proficient in the identification, derivation, analysis, implementation, testing, deployment and management of cybersecurity requirements for classified information systems.
  • Knowledge of prevalent IT cybersecurity methodologies, management practices, architectures, system development life cycles and best practices to prevent damage to, protection, and restore computers systems and electronic communications systems, including information contained therein, to ensure its availability, integrity, authentication, confidentiality, and non-repudiation.
  • Able to work independently without close supervision and exercises independent judgment and discretion.
  • Must be a well-organized, detail and customer (internal), oriented self-starter.   
  • Must be able to handle competing priorities and deadlines effectively and respond well to last minute, high priority, and time-sensitive projects and must be able to reprioritize effectively as business needs change.
  • Ability to efficiently schedule, direct and organize work and coordinate work with other departments.
  • Ability to effectively lead cross-functional working teams.

 
Education/Experience:
 

  • A Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, IT, or CIS and four years of relevant work experience is required. In lieu of a degree, comparable work experience would be considered.

 
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:
 

  • Computer Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) is absolutely necessary.
  • Active Secret Clearance preferred. If not a current holder, eligibility for one is absolutely necessary.
  • DoD Approved 8570 Approved Baseline Certifications preferred.

 
Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced office setting. The individual may be required to be in production areas in the yard and onboard ships. He/she must be able to walk to and from job sites. He/she may be required to work more than 8-hour shifts and weekend work.
 
There may be local travel and out-of-town travel (including air travel) up to 30% of the time with notice.
