A Quality Scientist position in Detroit, MI is available immediately through Modis. Qualified candidates will have completed a Bachelor’s degree in biology or a life sciences discipline as well as have experience with performing quality control in a laboratory setting. Qualified candidates will be comfortable performing environmental monitoring consisting of testing, trending, and reporting for production purposes. Job: Quality Scientist II
Location: Detroit, MI
Duration: Short Contract ending 2/28/18, but possible extension
Hours: 7AM-3:30 PM 3 days a week, but may increase to 5 days a week depending on need

The Quality Scientist II is primarily responsible for Quality Control activities in manufacturing and non-manufacturing areas. The Quality Scientist II is also responsible for performing quality control laboratory support functions and comparing test results to acceptance specifications.

•Performs Quality Control testing of raw material products and peptone manufacturing products.
•Includes set up operations and maintenance of laboratory equipment to perform this testing.
•Assist Manufacturing in maintaining compliance with cGMP associates with quality system procedure requirements.
•Responsible for documentation related to Quality Control including data analysis, recording test data, interdepartmental communications, batch history review, and creating/revising/reviewing test procedures.
•Responsible for preliminary assays which directs the course in which manufacturing activities are done.
•Responsible for environmental monitoring consisting of testing, trending, and reporting for production and non-production is required as applicable.
•Responsible for loss on drying and total solids testing.
•Perform general laboratory duties as directed by departmental procedures, as examples would include cleaning and maintaining lab areas and equipment.
•Assist with writing and revising of quality system documentation as required.
•Assist in completing project protocols, change notifications, Out of Specifications, deviation waivers, and quality notifications.
•Assist in departmental functions including raw material and product technical improvement projects.
•Responsible for purchasing of lab supplies.
•Management of all activities for subcontractors used on lab equipment.

•Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Microbiology or other related Life Science is required
•Two years relevant experience or combination of equivalent education and experience
•Knowledge of the following industry regulations (FDA, GMP/QSR, ISO)
•Knowledge of cGMP practices
•Knowledge of PC spreadsheets, word processing, and database applications
•Good verbal and written communication skills
•Good problem-solving skills with ability to make independent decisions
