Tech Support Specialist Position
6 Mos. Contract
San Jose, CA

 
SUMMARY:
 
The Technical Support Specialist is responsible for all end user support of computer hardware and software as well as other assigned special projects.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Communication with employees (emails, documentation, presentations, etc.)
• Thorough documentation for knowledge base and procedures
• Provides phone support
• Manage user accounts using Active Directory and other application database
• Provides application support for PeopleSoft, MVRS, customer web portals, etc.
• Provides desktop support (remotely or desk side)
• Manages and utilizes the IT Service Desk ticketing system to track all issues/requests tickets
• Carries out security and SOX procedures
• Patches security vulnerabilities
• Builds PCs and laptops
• Troubleshoots hardware, software and basic networking issues
• Install and troubleshoot printers and scanners
• Review event logs for troubleshooting
• Setup and support mobile devices such as iPhone and iPad
• Special projects (i.e. yearly PC replacement and laptop encryption)
• Occasional overtime work
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree preferred
• 3+ years’ experience with Windows operating systems (Windows 7, 8, 10), Microsoft Office Suites 2007 and 2013 including Outlook, and Active Directory
• Familiar with Windows Servers 2008 and 2012
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to troubleshoot problems from start to end
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Attention to detail and strong organizational/time-management skills
• Ability to provide excellent customer service and possess a positive attitude
• Ability to multi-task
