Position: Technical Writer
Duration: 4-6 Months
Pay: $40 - $50/hr
Location: Inland Empire
Modis Burbank is seeking a Technical Writer for a client in the Inland Empire area. The position will require a combination of business analyst methodologies and excellent written and communication skills, to translate technical processes into clear and concise documents.

  • Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements
  • Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience
  • Write easy-to-understand user interface text, online help and developer guides
  • Create tutorials to help end-users use a variety of application-specific functions
  • Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities
  • Research, develop and document technical design specifications and test scripts
  • Manage updates and revisions to technical literature


  • Proven working experience in technical writing of software documentation
  • Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
  • Excellent written and communication skills in English
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Publisher)
  • Basic familiarity with the SDLC and software development
  • Able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences
  • User training and user acceptance testing experience.
  • Experience creating swim lanes diagrams, use case scenarios, and test cases.


  • 3 - 5 years experience working as a Technical Writer
  • Government permitting processes experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Communications or any technology-related discipline, preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of experience, education and training will be considered.
