Field Service Technician (mid - senior level) - UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply)
 
Our client is a leading manufacturer of enterprise-class electronic products and equipment used within large data centers and industrial settings.  This position exists within their Services Division for an individual who specializes in Uninterruptible Power Supply installation, service, and repair.
 
This position is a permanent/direct-hire opportunity with salary, full benefits, and paid time off.  Paid overtime hours and bonuses are also part of the overall compensation plan.
 
The majority of this individual's time will be spent working at various clients located in the US and other countries.  The remaining time (20%) will be working in the Houston office performing complex equipment repair and remote technical support.
 
 
Job Responsibilities:
 
• Respond to various installation and service requests for Uninterruptible Power Supply customers located in the US and across the globe.  (Significant travel required.)
• Communicate with internal and external technical staff to understand product issues and/or deployment requests and for coordinating equipment delivery and date/time of work to be performed.
• Analyze, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment that has been damaged or is no longer performing according to specification.  Test and validate proper equipment operation.
• Provide individual training to client technical staff on product operation as needed.
• Create and update service request tickets for new and existing issues.
 
 
Job Requirements - Skills and Experience:
 
• At least 5 years of experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing high-voltage commercial UPS products.
• Desire/willingness/ability to learn new product features, installation best practices, problem resolution techniques, and safety requirements.
• Proficiency in and adherence to high-voltage electrical safety procedures.  
• Strong communication and people skills to assist customers from other cultures and at various technical levels.
• Ability to responsibly maintain a travel expense account (company credit card provided).
• Willing and able to travel domestically and abroad.
 
 
Job Requirements – Education/Certification/Training:
 
• Any specialized education, certification, or training in electrical engineering, wiring, electronics repair, or related discipline is preferred, but not required.
