UX Web Content Copy Editor job in Pleasanton (or) Pasadena, CA
Ensures the editorial accuracy, consistency, and brand and contractual compliance of communications content. The Editor must have a thorough knowledge of and expertise in applying brand voice to communications. Provide editorial direction and edit copy for a range of projects and initiatives. Ensure that all communications collateral is edited to increase brand awareness while accurately portraying all aspects of the program. Edit and proofread copy to ensure it is accurate, factually up-to-date, consistent, and reflects brand editorial standards. Actively participate on project teams and with clients to develop ideas, problem-solve, recommend copy solutions, and negotiate revisions. The Editor works in collaboration with cross functional teams.
Top Daily Responsibilities:  
1. Establish editorial documents based on design comps and input from product managers, writers, and subject matter experts  
2. Copy-edit and/or proofread new or updated content, including but not limited to end-user task instructions, interface labels, intro copy, accessibility markup, error or other event-handling messaging, and legalese  
3. Enter content into a CMS  
4. Manage own tasks and project deliverables    
Skills a Top Candidate Should Have:  
1. Five years of experience copy-editing content for various media (Web desktop, mobile, email, etc.), recognizing the requirements of each format  
2. A balance of productive independence on own workload as well as effective support of content teammates and collaboration with project partners from other disciplines  
3. Quality copy craftsmanship that effectively incorporates user, business, technical, editorial, brand, legal, accessibility, and UI/UX digital industry standards, practices, and requirements as provided  
4. Technical editing skills for supporting writers in converting complicated processes into clear, logical, and simple directions for non-technical users  
5. Intermediate use of Microsoft Office business tools    
Desired Skills:
1. Familiarity with Mac, SharePoint, and CMS systems  
2. A basic understanding of responsive Web design  
3. Familiarity with the creation of marketing content
Soft Skills:
1. Effective communication, including negotiation and detailed attention to getting your point across clearly and quickly  
2. Commitment to department and project teams, particularly with regards to mutual dependencies, reciprocal collaboration, and meeting deadlines  
3. A relaxed relationship with change as well as an ability to adapt quickly and effectively to that change    
Copy-edit and proofread editorial docs and preview interfaces that must align with Brand and Editorial Style for multiple digital device sizes. Projects also include entry of content updates directly into a content management system (CMS) and effective collaboration with UX content writers, project managers, agile product owners, CMS architects, content entry specialists, developers, and testers.    
• Integrating company style/brand and best practices of grammar and punctuation into clear, concise technical communications for end users  
• Delivering quality, error-free project assets on deadline  
• Understanding the guiding principles and practices behind digital design and content creation  
• Presenting defensible grammar, punctuation, and language usage options and recommendations to writers and non-writers  
• Supporting multiple projects and partnering teams simultaneously, including tracking own timelines/tasks and various project types and processes   
• Driving copy reviews involving product, subject matter, regional, executive, legal/compliance, and accessibility stakeholders   
SCOPE OF PROJECT:   Content and feature project types include net new, maintenance and update of existing, and migration from hard-coded or TeamSite platforms to Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). Support of two to four writers on three to five major projects simultaneously within a release calendar of six major releases and 26 minor releases per year involving change management and coordination of details. Copy-edit and proofread technical content in Microsoft Office app formats and digital preview environments.
