WordPress Developer - Houston, TX
 
Our client is seeking a WordPress Developer to work on both back-end and front-end development, including creating WordPress themes and plug ins. This position requires a combination of programming skills (namely PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript) and aesthetics (understanding element arrangements on the screen, the color and font choices, and so on). The candidate should have a strong understanding of industry trends and content management systems. Experience with responsive and adaptive design is required. Also, an understanding of the entire web development process, including design, development, and deployment is required.
 
Job Responsibilities


  • Coding and development experience within a WordPress environment including but not limited to: custom post types and taxonomies, custom themes, custom loops and widgets, custom meta and options, customization of admin area and menu.
  • High level understanding and experience with PHP, HTML5, CSS3, SASS, JavaScript, jQuery, MySQL, AJAX
  • Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications.
  • Experience developing responsive WordPress themes
  • Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers.
  • Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working web pages.
  • Good understanding of cross-platform and cross-browser issues.
  • Knowledge of WordPress Multisite beneficial but not required.
  • Experience with Banner is a big plus
  • Experience creating multilingual WordPress websites preferred but not required.

 
Qualifications

  • Associates degree in web development or related field preferred; two or more years’ experience in web development required.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Bitbucket or Github.
  • Experience with PHP, HTML5, CSS3, SASS, JavaScript, jQuery, MySQL, AJAX.
  • Organized, energetic, flexible, detail-oriented.
