Modis is currently seeking a Worker’s Compensation Claims Manager for an exciting long-term / contract to hire job with one of our top reinsurance clients, located Downtown Chicago.
 
This individual will be working in a team environment to assist the review and management for worker’s compensation claims.  The top responsibilities will include investigating claims to determine eligibility, and working closely with case managers and attorneys to determine subrogation, as well as negotiate benefits due & settlements.
 
Specific duties and responsibilities of this Worker’s Compensation Claims Manager will include:
- Receiving and processing worker’s compensation claims
- Determining the validity of worker’s compensation claims by investigating and gathering all necessary information surrounding the claim, such as Date of Injury (DOI), Diagnosis (Dx), Estimated Return to Work (ERTW), Independent Medical Evaluations (IME), etc ( 3-point contact)
- Communicating with IMEs for an unbiased third party assessment of the injury
- Setting reserves and payment of casualty losses, and allocating costs (Medical Treatment, Indemnity, Legal fees, etc). This may be $5000 up to $75,000+.

- Developing and managing well-documented action plans with the case managers and outcomes managers to reduce overall liability.
- Managing potential claim recoveries of all types
- Coordinating early return-to-work efforts with the case manager and employer
- Establishing and authorizing payments within reserving authority limits
- Managing subrogation of the claims through the litigation process
 
Minimum requirements and experience for this Claims Adjuster job are:
- Current experience as a Claims Adjuster with 2 or more recent years experience in Workers’ Compensation claims
- Experience setting / approving Worker's Compensation Reserves and Indemnity
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Worker's Compensation claims administration, case management and cost containment solutions
- Good experience working with Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
