A large local government organisation is seeking a contract Solution Architect for initial 12 months contract to be based in Brisbane.

The role is to ensure the architectural and technical integrity of the program and its projects. It will be leading complex solution architecture activities, such as service design, high level reviews of the implementation, data migration planning and implementation, planning for operational support, and identifying and coordinating the resolution of technical problems impacting the Program. As well as ensuring the deliverables and outcomes of each project within the Program contribute to the overall solution design, resolving conflicts when they arise and escalating risks, dependencies and constraints to the Project Managers, Program Manager and Enterprise Architect

Key responsibilities:

The solution architect:

  • Leads the design and development of technical architecture for all projects under program, ensuring consistency with specified requirements and current / future business needs, companies enterprise architecture and as the Queensland Government Enterprise Architecture Framework. Takes full responsibility for the balance between functional, service quality and systems management requirements within program
  • Provides advice on technical aspects of the solution development, system integration and data migration (including requests for changes, deviations from specifications, etc.) and ensures that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices (including security) are applied correctly.
  • Reviews others' systems designs to ensure efficient use of resources, and integration of multiple systems and technology. Ensures that the system design balances functional and non-functional requirements. Contributes to development of systems design policies and standards and selection of architecture components. Undertakes impact analysis on major design options and trade-off.
  • Identifies, evaluates and manages the adoption of appropriate tools, techniques and processes (including automation and continuous integration) to create a robust integration framework. Monitors and reports on the results of each integration and build.
  • Undertakes impact analysis on major design options, makes recommendations and assesses and manages associated risks. Evaluates the quality of others' systems designs to ensure adherence to standards and identifies corrective action, if needed. Ensures that the system design balances functional, quality, security and systems management requirements.
  • Ensures implementation of information and records management meets policies and standard practice.

Experience required:

  • Experience and achievements in providing architecture services for multiple projects in a government environment.
  • Experience with SaaS technologies and, ideally with the Appian technology platform / solutions. An Appian Level 3 credential would be highly regarded
  • Experience with data migration, preferably from on-premise Oracle systems to cloud hosted SaaS technologies and data stored disparately across multiple locations
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop and deliver innovative solutions and working flexibly in your work and willing to undertake related tasks.
  • Demonstrated customer focused approach, a collaborative style, effective communication skills, and proactive stakeholder management
