We're on the lookout for talented individuals to fill the roles of Cloud Automation Engineer and Cloud Identity Engineer. If you have a solid background in Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Azure, Salesforce, and expertise in Microsoft DevOps, Agile methodology, cybersecurity, and compliance with the Essential 8, we want to hear from you!

  • Contract length: 12 months contract + 2 x 12 months extensions available.
  • Location: Canberra, ACT | Work environment: Hybrid
  • Candidate must be Australian Citizen and hold a minimum of NV1 clearance.
  1. Cloud Automation Engineer:

Client is adopting a hybrid, multi-cloud environment, comprising a mix of service providers including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Azure, Salesforce, and other enterprise on-premises services.

The focus of this role will be working in a team designing and implementing client's solution centric Azure capabilities deploying key strategic applications into that environment. The broader focus of the role will require the successful candidate to exhibit a range of skills and experience supporting modern, large, and complex federal government departments both cloud and on-premises, with a focus on automation and security.

Primary Duties:

Working as part of the Cloud Platform Section, under guidance and direction of a technical lead, the Cloud Automation engineer will be responsible for assisting in:  

  • The development and implementation of DFAT's solution centric Azure capability including:
  • Azure Policy,
  • Azure app services,
  • Azure SQL Databases,
  • Key Vaults,
  • Azure Front Door, and
  • Enterprise Landing Zones.
  • Ensuring designs and implementation meet governance and security requirements.
  • Planning and migration of pilot workloads and applications into Azure.
  • Technical assurance services for project and operational engineering teams.
  • Development of design and operational documentation.
  • Attendance of daily scrums and manage work items assigned using Microsoft DevOps and the Agile methodology.
  • Ensure cloud solutions align to better practice and whole of government cyber security overlay and compliance with the Essential 8.

Selection Criteria - Mandatory:

  • Knowledge and experience in delivering 'as a service' capabilities using Azure technologies.
  • Knowledge and experience in securing Azure technologies to a Protected level.
  • Knowledge and experience designing and implementing secure networks in Azure.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing on-premises and as a service' capabilities.
  • Understanding and experience in the application of Systems Engineering methodologies for complex ICT system development.
  • Ability to provide engineering guidance and leadership within one or more technology domains.
  • Experience with one or more of:
  • ARM Templates
  • Azure CLI
  • Azure PowerShell
  • Azure BICEP

Selection Criteria - Desirable:

  • Experience and skills across a broad range of ICT systems and environments, including Identity platforms.
  • Knowledge and experience in delivering 'as a service' capabilities using AWS and/or Microsoft Office 365.
  • The DevOps methodology as it relates to Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment.
  • Experience working with Agile development methodologies and scrum.
  • Experience with one or more development tools and methods.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and change.
  • Strong coordination and organisational skills.
  • High-level communications and documentation skills; and
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment.

The broader focus of the role will require the successful candidate to exhibit a range of skills and experience supporting modern, large and complex federal government departments both cloud and on-premises, with a focus on automation and security.

  • Azure Privileged identity Management,
  • Azure AD B2C,
  • Entra External ID,
  • Azure Front Door,
  • AWS Cognito, and
  • AWS Identity and Access Management
  • Ensuring designs and implementation meet governance and security requirements.
  • Planning and migration of pilot workloads and applications to cloud identity providers.
  • Technical assurance services for project and operational engineering teams.
  • Development of design and operational documentation.
  • Attendance of daily scrums and manage work items assigned using Microsoft DevOps and the Agile methodology.
  • Ensure cloud identity solutions align to best practice and whole of government cyber security overlay and compliance with the Essential 8.

Selection Criteria - Mandatory:

  • Knowledge and experience in securing cloud identity technologies to a Protected level.
  • Knowledge and experience designing and implementing Azure AD B2C.
  • Knowledge and experience designing and implementing Intune device management.
  • Knowledge and experience designing and implementing Azure AD/Entra Conditional Access Policies.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing on-premises and 'as a service' identity capabilities.
  • Ability to provide engineering guidance and leadership within one or more identity technology domains.
  • Experience with one or more of:
  • M365DSC,
  • GraphAPI,
  • MSOL,
  • AzureAD PowerShell

Selection Criteria - Desirable:

  • Experience and skills across a broad range of ICT systems and environments, including cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge and experience in delivering 'as a service' capabilities using AWS and/or Azure platforms.
  • Knowledge and experience designing and implementing Windows 365, and/or Azure Virtual Desktop.
  • The DevOps methodology as it relates to Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment.
  • Experience working with Agile development methodologies and scrum.
  • Experience with one or more development tools and methods.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and change.
  • Strong coordination and organisational skills.
  • High-level communications and documentation skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment.
