Our Largest Federal Government client is looking for a Senior Business Analyst professional that can articulate and document business requirements and elicit high level requirements and capture business needs. Business Analyst professionals articulate and document business requirements and elicit high level requirements and capture business needs. ICT/Business Change/Business Process Analyst Design 150101 incorporated into this role.

Senior Business Analysts work to understand how the agency functions in order to achieve its purpose and goals. This involves understanding the agency's capabilities required to deliver its services to customers and stakeholders. They develop an understanding of the current state of the agency or identifying future business needs in order to meet the agency's purpose. Business analyst staff seek to define and validate solutions (such as Tableau and Power BI) that meet business needs, goals, or objectives.

Senior Business Analysts analyse and integrate information provided by a large number of customers, staff, IT professionals, executives, customers and external stakeholders. They are responsible for understanding the core needs and requirements of stakeholders and the agency. They may also work to facilitate communication between business units. They often play a central role in aligning the needs of business units with the capabilities delivered by information technology or business activities and may serve as a translator between different stakeholder groups. Working under the limited direction of senior staff, they exercise initiative and judgment in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures


  • Assist in defining and clarifying business needs to contribute to the creation of action plans, solution reports or business cases for consideration of senior staff.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to understand, gather, and analyse their requirements and concerns in line with the agency's business objectives.
  • Conduct business analysis approach that may include specifying team roles, deliverables, analysis techniques or stakeholder communication.
  • Identify potential business needs to recommend improvements for consideration by senior staff and provide analysis, verification, and validation on the recommended improvements.
  • Conduct stakeholder analysis to assist in engaging with stakeholders to effectively understand cross business functions.
  • Facilitate communication across business units with a range of stakeholders and represent the agency by promoting its interests at a range of forums.
  • Assist with managing requirements and communication through scope, traceability, and maintenance.
  • Produce business analyst artefacts and documents that may include risk analysis, scope modelling, problem tracking and sequence diagrams.
  • Prepare or contribute to change management plans and/or communication plans.
  • Participate and perform elicitation requirement techniques such as brainstorming, workshops, prototyping, observation or interviews, and confirm or report on results.
  • Prepare and contribute to clear business and stakeholder requirement documentation including prioritising, organising and verifying the requirements.
  • Examine and organise requirements to record and identify dependencies, relationships, and logical sequences.
  • Review project documentation and agency processes to assist with determining deliverables.
  • Contribute to risk analysis, identify issues and problem tracking to assist senior staff with the mitigation of potential issues.
  • Contribute towards the requirements management plan, including testing and quality checking activities.
  • Contribute towards or manage performance reporting activities and/or variance analysis.
  • Prepare textual statements, matrices, diagrams and formal models to contribute to the analysis of requirements.
  • Manage workloads for self and others, including setting work direction and priorities.
  • Manage, support and mentor staff including coaching and training to build knowledge and capability.

Mandatory Criteria

  1. Demonstrated high level experience as a Senior Business Analyst in large and complex, enterprise environments (preferably with Government or large organisations) with expertise in Tableau and Power BI.
  2. Proven experience and record of accomplishment in the delivery of project deliverables on time and of high quality.
  3. Demonstrated sound communication, negotiation and liaison skills.

Weighted Criteria

  1. Experience in Data Visualisation Development in Tableau Technologies.
  2. Proven knowledge and experience with Tableau products and solutions.
  3. Expertise in development and analysis (complex data sources, using complex calculations to customise data)
  4. Proven ability to interpret and represent information/knowledge in legislative documents/systems.
  5. Demonstrated high level communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
