SysOps Engineer - Linux
Akkodis are currently working with a leading service provider to recruit an experienced SysOps Engineer with excellent knowledge of building and maintaining on prem Linux environments.
As a SysOps Engineer you will be joining a SysOps team responsible for internal systems, network and infrastructure. The team plans, installs, maintains, and monitors the network, server and storage infrastructure alongside a team of developers and testers, ensuring the highest levels of good security practice.
This role offers fully remote working, but you must live in commutable distance of Farnborough for occasional visits to the datacentre.
The Role
As a SysOps Engineer you will be working with the below technologies (experience of some or all of these technologies would be welcome.
Server technology stack is a CISCO network stack supporting Rocky and CentOS servers, with VMWare used for virtualised servers. A blend of Apache and Nginx web servers, an Elasticsearch data layer and MySQL, PHP and Python for the software stack. The systems are managed on an Infrastructure-as-Configuration basis. Planned systems development include use of microservice architecture through technologies like Kubernetes and Docker.
The Requirements
- Strong Linux experience (3+ years)
- Hardware Installation and Maintenance
- Must be in the UK South-West ideally near Farnborough/Reading/Basingstoke
- UK Driving License
