Cloud Platform Manager (GCP) | Hybrid | To £120k + bonus - up to 30%

I've just taken the brief for a cracking role with one of our most exciting clients. They're looking to bring on a Cloud Platform Manager who has experience working with Google Cloud Platform (ideally) on an enterprise scale and has experience establishing and managing the team and processes.

This role will see you coming from a strong technical management background where you have built enterprise-scale technical cloud solutions. Working directly with C-Level stakeholders you will have to have exceptional stakeholder management capabilities and be able to defend your technical ideas, and push back on ideas from senior members of staff. Establishing and managing this team will be integral to your day-to-day work from the start. Your background will have seen you managing the cloud platform at a large organisation, or you may be a Senior Cloud Architect or Cloud Delivery professional who is looking to make the jump into management.

You will be building and managing a growing Cloud Platform team and taking full accountability for the end to end delivery of this for the entire business. You'll be working to budgets and ensuring projects are delivered in line with discussions. As a manager you will be experienced at bringing out the best in your people and ensuring efficient and effective delivery.

You will be overseeing the move from on-prem to Cloud for a large organisation and will need to guide the company through this adoption phase. You'll need to have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Tech-wise, our client aren't looking to pigeon-hole a candidate with a list of specific tools; however, you will need to have experience with the following:

  • Google Cloud Platform (if you have exceptional experience in AWS or Azure and a really strong desire to move into GCP then you may be considered)
  • Kubernetes or GKE.
  • CI/CD.
  • Monitoring stacks and tools
  • Infrastructure as Code tools (preferably Terraform)
  • Various cloud security tools
  • FinOps concepts

In short, you'll need strong tech and people skills. This is a cracking opportunity to get stuck into GCP and bring an enterprise scale business into the world of cloud. This role is paying up to £120k, plus the chance to earn up to 30% bonus (based on personal and company performance). There are also an outstanding benefits package including a strong pension and a car allowance. For this role you will be required to be in the Manchester-based office two days/week.
