Senior Network Engineer

My client, a well-established business with a global presence business is looking for a driven and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join their growing global IT team.

The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing functional network infrastructure and security, providing technical support to all internal clients/employees. The position monitors, troubleshoots, and diagnoses network performance, confidentiality, integrity and availability.

This is a full time, permanent role where there will be a hybrid approach to home / office working from my client's UK head office based in Nottinghamshire.

This is a full time, permanent role paying £50,000 - £80,000 plus benefits dependant on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering projects to address and resolve business needs.
  • Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN).
  • Configure and install software, servers, routers and other network devices.
  • Monitor network performance and integrity.
  • Resolve issues tiers of support have escalated by troubleshooting cloud and local infrastructure.
  • Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Mentor team members on technical issues.
  • Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery).
  • Communicate with users when needed.
  • Maintain complete technical documentation.
  • Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability.

Key Skills and Experience required:

  • Strong networking background with a focus on Cisco routers and switches hardware
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Core Routing and Switching design, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Routing protocols OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, ISIS
  • WAN connectivity
  • Spanning-tree, Port Channels, Load balancing,
  • Cisco WaaS / ISE
  • Multicast PIM Sparse/Dense, MSDP, NAT
  • Quality Of Service understanding and configuration, able to customize across all Cisco platforms to support Voice, Video, and selected applications
  • Excellent understanding of VPN - site to site, client, IPSEC (including the protocol suite), IKE, DMVPN, tunnel modes, Tunnels between ASAs, Routers
  • Knowledge and experience of Network Security, including the design, configuration, and tuning of Cisco and Palo Alto appliances
  • Strong background in wireless communication design, configuration, wireless site assessment and audit
  • MPLS traffic engineering design, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • LDP, TDP, RSVP Label distribution
  • MPBGP-VPNv4, Multi-VRF and VRF-Lite
  • Extensive knowledge of Datacenter design utilizing the Nexus product line
  • Cisco Application Centric Networking
  • Strong knowledge of the Cisco ASR 9000 product line
