An Information Systems Data Architect with experience of working in the UK defence environment is required for a long term contract assignment based in Stevenage, Bristol or Bolton.

We are looking for a Data Architect to join our team to lead the development of our strategy, policies, procedures and models regarding data management and safeguard that we follow industry best practices. You will encourage improvements in knowledge of data practices and promote good data management by ensuring that teams and relevant individuals are aware of the benefits.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of data management frameworks and enterprise strategy. You should have experience in designing and/or implementing data and meta-data management processes and solutions, such as data-tagging.

Roles and Responsibilities

* Work with existing Data projects to develop a central IM Data Strategy

* Consider and adopt relevant data management frameworks to be used

* Develop processes and procedures regarding data management

* Establish best practices for data management and governance across the organisation

* Foster data maturity and drive improvements

* Ensure data management approaches are consistent but appropriate across multiple networks and applications

* Review Identity and Access Management process and make recommendations of improvement

* Work with the Infrastructure and Security teams to assess perimeter enforcement of data protection and replication of data across multiple environments (internal and external)

* Oversee the selection and implementation of data management tools including data classification

* Consider operational requirements and costs

Qualifications and Skills

* Proven work experience as a Data Architect or similar role

* Proven ability to define strategy based on industry best practice and Enterprise environment

* Positive attitude and a strong commitment to delivering quality work

* Strong analytical problem-solving skills

* Effective communication skills

* Established skills in data modelling/visualisation tools

* Knowledge of complex, multi-domain, multi-network environments

* Relevant training and/or certifications in data management

* Familiarity with the Defence industry is essential.
