Senior People Manager

Modis are working in partnership with a leading organisation in Worcestershire to recruit an experienced Senior People Manager to lead the Operational Services function and be responsible for the delivery of an integrated professional service that enables line managers to support and develop their teams.

The Role

As a Senior People Manager you will be leading a team of People Business Partners and contribute to the development and implementation of the People Strategy and Business plan.

The Responsibilities

  • Agree, implement and monitor levels of service and manage the delivery of professional advice, coaching and support to Heads of department and their management teams.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to Heads of department and managers on complex people management issues and represent the organisation at Employment Tribunals and Medical Appeal Boards.
  • Ensure the development and management of local resourcing and succession plans, career pathways, talent pools and pipelines to meet departmental workforce planning requirements.
  • Develop, implement and monitor the effective operation of people management policies, procedures and processes and ensure the provision of timely advice to managers and individuals.
  • Act as an initial point of contact on employee relations issues and ensure timely consultation with Trade Union, Staff Association representatives and Internal Support Groups on proposed changes to people management policies, procedures and terms and conditions of service.
  • Manage and control allocated expenditure within agreed budgets and financial management arrangements.
  • Monitor and manage performance, ensuring that issues are identified and addressed, team and individual performance is improved and professional standards are met.
  • Ensure the handling of information and record keeping complies with legislation, policies and guidance.


The Requirements

  • Ideally you will be CIPD qualified to Level 7 in People Management
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current employment legislation and people management practice.
  • Extensive experience of managing HR services at a senior level in a large, multi-disciplined organisation.
  • Experience of successfully leading and developing professional teams.
  • Experience of providing professional people management advice to senior managers within a complex organisation.
  • Demonstrable ability to lead and manage change to improve organisational performance.
