Position Summary:

As a Buyer/Planner you will be expected to meet and/or exceed targets, adhere to strict deadlines, and have the flexibility to prioritize short term demands over long-term goals. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and procuring material for our client company’s contract manufacturing (CM) production needs in its Boxborough, MA location. This will involve working closely with the CM Product Manager during the transfer of D&E projects into the CM Operations. Direct and coordinate activities of cell buying, material planning and inventory control in creating and delivering an executable production plan for the relevant product line.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 3+ years purchasing and planning experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Technical degree preferred or related technical experience
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Oracle experience required; strong understanding of ERP systems
  • Team player, self-motivated
  • Results orientation
  • Understanding of inventory turns and how to optimize results
  • Passionate about application of Continuous Improvement
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree preferred, Associate’s Degree, or equivalent, required

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for PO maintenance (launching, RTV, expediting)
  • Coordinates delivery information for all purchased parts for their assigned cell
  • Supports negotiations for target price, lead-times and desired package sizes
  • Blanket PO’s setup for all active materials to improve efficiencies
  • Aligns supply chain to future customer demand
  • Coordinates Kanban management (audits, sizing, corrective actions, etc.)
  • Implementing a forward planning process to minimize purchase part shortages
  • Drives shortage review weekly
  • Implements best materials practices to improve efficiencies
  • Recommends corrective actions to improve/sustain inventory accuracy
  • Leads development and implementation of planning systems for new products and product transitions
  • Translate customer demand into an executable production plan
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and assist with take corrective actions.
  • Manage and develop existing suppliers through performance feedback.
  • Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Strong lean manufacturing background (Kanban Management)
  • Possess or pursuing APICS or CPM certification
  • Ability to read custom fabricated drawings
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (Medical, Aerospace etc)
  • TRAVEL: Overnight travel is generally not required for the position, but may be scheduled as business needs arise
