Technical Lead Architect -  Business Intelligence  and Datawarehouse:

Modis, the leader in the IT and Engineering Staffing industry, is working with a client on identifying an Enterprise Data Warehouse / Business Intelligence Architect contract to hire position located the Cleveland suburbs.

In this role you will help define the Business Intelligence platform and set the direction for new or existing BI / EDW tools and packages.  Experience leading and mentoring BI / EDW Developers in best practices. 

This is a long-term contract lasting approximately 18 – 24 months with the option to convert to permanent. 

Strategy & Planning

  • Technical leader who develops the overall Business Intelligence/ Data Warehouse (BI/DW) database/data management architecture and strategy including cloud, on premise, and hybrid solutions.
  • Plans, coordinates and administers all functions in support of the BI/DW database environments including database definitions, structures, documentation, data standards, software upgrades, security, backup & recovery, and performance optimization/tuning.
  • Ensures that BI/DW systems, schemas, and backend storage meet application software project, performance and data storage capacity requirements. Determines the strategy for upgrading or replacing underperforming and/or inadequate systems.
  • Determines the annual budget to ensure funding for the BI/DW systems, technology and the human resources required to implement, support and maintain it.
  • Operational Management

  • Performs as the lead technical source for teams of product owners, technicians, analysts, developers and quality assurance professionals in the development and maintenance of Agency BI/DW systems.
  • Formulates and ensures that BI/DW policies, procedures and standards align with the data management policies and procedures across all BI/DW environments.
  • Designs and develops conceptual, logical and physical data models to meet project requirements and strategies.
  • Provides coaching and mentoring to business users, team members and other IT staff in BI/DW database design and data management best practices, techniques, standards and approaches.
  • Maintains expert level technical knowledge in applicable areas of IT, software development, configuration management and security. Keeps abreast of changes in the field. Researches new business trends and makes recommendations for implementation. Reads and interprets professional literature. Attends training programs, workshops and seminars as appropriate.
  • Knowledge & Experience

  • Expert level knowledge and experience in logical and physical data warehouse database design and performance optimization. Must have excellent database design, data modeling knowledge and experience related to large-scale, multidimensional BI/DW design, star schemas, facts and dimensions.
  • Expert level knowledge and experience in cube/analytical data model design background.
  • Expert level understanding of data management best practices including demonstrated experience with data profiling, sourcing and cleansing routines using typical data quality functions involving standardization, transformation, rationalization, linking and matching.
  • Expert level knowledge and operational experience with Microsoft BI/DW tools, technologies and products (SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services, Analysis Services, Reporting Services, etc.).
  • Expert level experience in the development of BI dashboards.
  • Expert level hands-on experience with SQL Server 2005, 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2014, 2017 and 2019 administration which includes strong ETL/SSIS exposure, performance tuning skills and backup/restore experience.
  • Expert level knowledge and experience in TSQL and developing stored procedures.
