Modis has an exciting job opening for an IT Programmer for a direct hire position with our client in Southfield, Michigan.

They are in the process of upgrading their legacy environment to a more modern stack and they are looking for someone to support their legacy code environment until this new project, which they are building from the ground up, can be put into production. They have not yet decided on a new stack yet but are planning on moving into a more automated environment with a modern web app stack. The ideal candidate would be a skilled developer with SQL/MySQL, PHP, Python, C# or object oriented language. Additionally, they are in the early stages with Azure but are gearing up to do a large deployment in the future.

Job Responsibilities for IT Programmer:

  • Leads projects when needed and builds strong working understanding of the solution being delivered.
  • Analysis and translation of business requirements into technical requirements for development and creation of design documents and technical specifications.
  • Coding and System integration
  • Unit, system, and load test plan development and execution.
  • Code migration and production support.
  • Adhere to Best Practices and Standards in the areas of technology.
  • Provide post implementation support including, but not limited to, monitoring application performance and debugging existing code.
  • Helps to facilitate, coordinate, and develop long-range strategies, goals, and objectives for the IT department.
  • Job Qualifications for the IT Programmer:

  • 5+ years of programming / web development experience
  • Skilled with PHP, C#, Python or other OOP language
  • Good IT support experience, working in a Linux/Windows environment.
  • Experience with databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL.
  • Should be able to read and write SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions.
  • Clear understanding of the full development life cycle including requirements definition, design, coding, testing and support.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. However, will consider any combination of experience, training and/or education that provides the required knowledge, abilities, and skills as a substitute for degree.
  • Additional Preferred Job Qualifications for IT Programmer:

  • Financial experience preferred, but not required.
  • Exposure to any of the following: .NET Core, Docker, Kubernetes, Azure, DevOps, RESTful services, developing APIs, creating pipelines, REACT JS, Django, Python
  • Ability to take responsibility and accountability for own activities. Possesses ability to multi-task and prioritize issues appropriately. Aids in the evaluation of alternative approaches and may help in presenting recommendations to teams and unit.
  • Working with a small team so needs to be a good culture fit.
  • Employment Type: Full-Time

    Compensation: $105,000 + bonus, tuition reimbursement, car allowance, paid car insurance, paid cell phone, paid for gas, $0 out of pocket for medical/dental/vision and tons of other great perks. This role would be on-site based out of their office in Southfield/Detroit.
