Modis is seeking a Network Support Specialist in Durham, NC. The Network Support Specialist will be providing network and technical support services. The main objective for the network support Specialist is to provide support to the organizations networking services as well as desktop applications. Some of the responsibilities include providing support to Cisco voice and networking services, administer e-mail and internet access support, desktop systems support as well as supporting mobile devices.

The Primary Responsibilities of the Network Support Specialist in Durham, NC include:

  • Provide IT needs and support services as well as provide mobile and desktop network support
  • Coordinate with HQ technicians and perform installation and migrations of various technology solutions within the network.
  • Analyze customer requirements for IT services.
  • Perform troubleshooting on all Cisco voice and networking services, including desk phones, sip client, mobile phones, and network switches.
  • Initial setup of computer systems, VPN management and training for new staff
  • Administer and maintain individual (onsite and offsite) computers and computer network, mobile IT tools (PDAs, Tablets, Phones, etc.) including but not limited to file structures, print servers and virus protection.
  • Administer E-mail and internet access, establishing users and maintaining accounts
  • Troubleshooting of issues related to workstations, databases such as Navision and CRM software, and VPN access.
  • Mobile device administration (i.e. iphones) and maintenance of phones, phone security and mobile phone policy.
  • Develop, revise and train on IT related Policies as needed
  • Remote IT support for all covered regions and assistance to staff that will be traveling to these areas from other offices worldwide
  • Set up new user accounts, email distribution lists, security groups and folder permissions on network, establishing users and maintaining accounts.
  • Unlock user accounts and reset passwords for accounts with Active Directory
  • Monitor Citrix and SQL Servers
  • Support staff with technology needs, including hardware and software support (such as setting up printers/scanners, installing software necessary to perform job tasks, etc.)
  • Security testing of systems to maintain high level of security
  • Coordinate with field staff and maintain documentation regarding Loaner Laptops issued to customer sites which require local setup and installation of fitting software
  • Coordinate encryption protection on all systems to maintain security of systems/ company information
  • Other Responsibilities may include:

  • Position requires a set working schedule onsite in the Durham office as well as availability after hours to accommodate time zone coverage, on-call coverage and occasional additional work hours for special projects and travel as may be required from time to time.
  • Identify needs and opportunities for improvement to make contributions toward streamlining/ improving operations, company performance and compliance
  • Accept special projects and assignments as business requires
  • Spend time with HQ IT team on a regular basis both for training and networking purposes, to increase awareness of needs within the regions assigned to this position and identify workable solutions.

  • Technical and working experience with systems networking, databases, Web development, and user support including some experience with e-commerce web sites
  • Knowledge of computer systems and network applications with various operating systems and solutions as directed such as:
  • VMWare
  • Checkpoint VPN
  • Database expertise (including Navision, CRM, Marketing/Consumer database)
  • Systems and IT support for company websites including website(s), web shop, Fed Ex shipping, etc.
