Software Engineer:

Modis, the leader in the IT and Engineering Staffing Industry is currently interviewing candidates for the position of Software Engineer.  This is a full-time, permanent position that is primarily remote – you must reside in the Columbus, Ohio area OR be open to being onsite 1 day per week. 


Essential Duties:

  • Technical ownership of tasks
  • Successfully deliver sprint tasks with paired programming or independently
  • Efficiently produce well-organized, optimized, and documented code
  • Collaborate with Engineers and Product Managers to design and implement features
  • Ability to meet deadlines, satisfy requirements from other Engineers and Product Management
  • Communicate effectively
  • Provide valuable feedback during peer review, code review and all aspects of the development process
  • With the product owners, technical teams, and leadership
  • Domain expert
  • Continue to grow professional skills through self-education on current platforms, methodologies and emerging technologies to allow for future problem-solving and decision-making
  • Develop business acumen
  • Provide mentorship on tasks and projects
  • Skills, Knowledge, and Behaviors:

    Here, a well-rounded engineer with a broad range of technical skills, communication, critical thinking, and leadership is essential for our success.

  • Experience with the following programming languages: C# .Net, TypeScript (nice to have), and JavaScript
  • Database structures and SQL development
  • Solid Understanding of RESTful API's
  • Understanding of Angular, HTML, and CSS or other front-end technologies
  • History of designing and delivering software solutions for real-world problems focusing on highly maintainable and reliable code using practices such as unit testing, integration testing, code documentation, and appropriate logging.
  • Leadership abilities to lead medium to large scale projects providing accountability for timely delivery; helping drive technical road maps; Share knowledge and mentor others as needed.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Version control such as GIT, Subversion, or Team Foundation Server
  • Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent experience
  • At least five years of software engineering or development experience
  • Hands-on experience using relevant tool suites
  • Experience working in a team environment and focusing on the teams' results
