A Safety Manager job in Greensboro, NC is available through Modis. This is a direct hire job with an established, flourishing MEP company. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience working in a Safety capacity within the construction industry and deep knowledge of OSHA safety guidelines. The Safety Manager is responsible for developing and overseeing the general health and safety policies and procedures of the organization to include ensuring the workplace follows OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations.

Responsibilities of the Safety Manager include but are not limited to:

  • Provides programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment.
  • Systematically collect data and analyze the causes of accidents, near misses, and incidents; identify trends; generate required reporting; accident investigation to include immediate corrective action
  • Prepare and help implement safety policies, procedures, and initiatives continuously evaluating and improving them to prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards
  • Interpret OSHA guidelines and company policies/procedures to lead company direction and assist in decision-making
  • New hire (and current staff) safety training and as needed per law/guidelines or safety hazards
  • Conduct safety meetings, audits, and industrial hygiene surveys on job sites and in shop
  • Oversee hearing conversation program and medical evaluation for respirator use
  • Manage fire monitoring system
  • Run motor vehicle reports for new hires and annually; evaluate driving privileges based on report
  • Update and maintain safety manual, site plans, safety data sheets, and all other related safety documentation
  • Work with management on safety-related disciplinary action
  • Point of contact for employees to address concerns regarding health and safety policy
  • Procurement of safety equipment / apparel

Qualifications for the Safety Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • At least 5 years of experience working in a safety capacity within the construction industry (Preferably 7+ years)
  • Deep knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office and other tracking applications
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the company
  • Ability to remain composed in stressful situations
  • Strong problem-solving skills
