A Technical Hardware Engineer II opportunity is now available in Lenoir NC in courtesy of Akkodis. Ideally seeking someone with Data Center exposure. 

Position Description

Project Overview:

  • Damage Control Quality Program Support TVC
  • Will organizationally report to the site OM supporting repairs and functionally to the site Server Ops Damage Reduction Champion.
  • Overall Responsibilities:

    This role is a quality assurance position with primary focus to monitor and reduce damage to data center hardware parts.   Key responsibilities:

  • Assist the site Damage Reduction Champions in their efforts to reduce damage at each DC.   This would involve spot checks of different process staging areas for proper handling, packaging and storage of parts.
  • Assist the site damage reduction champions in the execution of the damaged parts process at the datacenter.    This is the process for ensuring damaged parts are verified as damaged and quarantined and not mixed with good product.
  • Assist the site Damage Reduction Champion in escalation issues affecting part damage.
  • Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:

  • Perform 5% sample inspections of Rackback / Flatback Storage Mainboard PCBAs for damage at 3 different inspection points at each site.  Total inspection quantities are ~ 200 - 300 boards per week.
  • Perform damage verification inspection for parts reported damaged by other onsite personnel.  This is needed to insure parts are truly damaged.  This inspection would involve up to 100 parts per week.
  • Periodic auditing of handling processes and packing used at different touch points at each datacenter.  This include Kitting areas, RMA areas, drop zone, pickup zone
  • Required Skills:

  • General knowledge of electronic parts and components used in Datacenter hardware.
  • Examples,  Motherboards,  DIMMs, Hard Drives, network cards,  
  • Familiarity with typical mechanical defects of electronic components and hardware.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods (several hours at a time) doing detailed inspection of electronic parts and components.
  • Familiarity with simple inspection equipment such as stereo microscopes and ringlights
  • Ability to use a PC to record / report data.
  • Nice to Have Skills/Not Required:

  • Quality Assurance background in the electronics industry
  • Background in troubleshooting / repair of server / storage and networking product.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
