Engineering Material Planner

Length of assignment- 6 months w/potential of full time hire Hours- 1st shift, hours are variable, but 7am-3:30pm would be a guesstimate on time…. 8a-4:30p

Background with automotive- similar environment, high paced, high urgency, attention to detail Education- Bachelor’s Degree preferred (will need this to be hired full time)

Software/Hardware- Must have experience in some MRP system be it SAP, Oracle, or other. Ideal would be Oracle as this is the system we use. They would also need to be proficient in Excel as many of our day to day reports and calculations are delivered this way. Any ERP systems.

  • Accomplishments- proven detail
  • Bachelor’s degree- will need this to be hired full time
  • Flexibility with schedule to ensure flow of parts
  • Ability to work in a team environment- (1 Lead Planner and 6 Planners, 3 Managers, cycle counters, receiving).
  • Years of experience- 2-5 years

    2 years of material planning experience.

    5 years of experience working within a manufacturing environment.

    Job Description

    As a Material Planner (2nd shift,) you'll be an essential part of the manufacturing team! Confirm the flow of materials needed for short-term manufacturing operations, while managing long-term supply chain issues to ensure part availability for the plant. You'll work both as part of a team and independently in a variety of settings.

    Material Planners are also responsible for communicating cross-functionally with different departments, internal and external customers/suppliers, and helping execute production schedules.

    Other related duties as assigned

    Perform safety audits and assignments related to plant materials safety.

    Manage other special projects as necessary.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    2 years of material planning experience.

    5 years of experience working within a manufacturing environment.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or other relevant field of study.

    5+ years of materials management experience within a high volume manufacturing environment.

    Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

    Strong systems capabilities, including MRP/ERP systems and intermediate MS Word/Excel. Oracle highly prefered. 

    Understanding and prior usage/application of lean manufacturing principles.

    Customer focus, high energy, and aggressive approach to issues.

    Excellent presentation skills and solid verbal/written communication skills.

    Initiative and ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks.

    Supplier management experience and project implementation.

    APICS certification.

    Six Sigma certification.

    Working Conditions:

    Working conditions are normal for both an office and manufacturing environment.

    Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds.

    Working in the manufacturing environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, work shoes/boots.

    Work may require occasional weekend.
