Quality Engineer - Direct Hire

Akkodis is seeking a Quality Engineer for a direct hire / full-time position with a client located in Middlefield, CT.

Pay/Salary Range: $100,000.00 to $125,000.00 per year on with employee benefits for direct hire position with client.

Position Overview:

In this position, you will work with both our client’s internal customers and suppliers toward the attainment of our quality, cost, and delivery objectives using a variety of techniques. You will assist in such functions as ISO compliance, supplier qualification, introduction of new products, non-conformance root cause determination, prevention and corrective actions, quality control source inspections, as well as serving as an interface for implementing our supplier’s recommendations for process improvements to enhance quality, reduce cost, or shorten lead times.

In-depth knowledge of manufacturing fabrication and assembly processes, drawing interpretation, and related metrology tools and methodologies is required. Related practical work experience is also required.

Quality Engineer job responsibilities include:

• Lead the Material Review Board (MRB) activities, to assure proper disposition of nonconforming materials.

• Act as the company’s customer facing quality representative.

• Support the warranty return process.

• Lead root cause / corrective action activities and provide nonconformance trend analysis.

• Oversee internal calibration program.

• Support the administration of ISO 9001:2015 as an internal lead auditor.

• Participate in ‘design for manufacturability’ initiatives.

• Assist with the review and maintenance of inspection sampling program.

Qualifications:

• 5-10 years of Quality or related Engineering Experience

• B.S. degree in an engineering discipline.

• Must possess the skills to collaborate across departmental lines and with external suppliers.

• Must be meticulous and possess a drive to meet or exceed internal and external customer requirements.

• Must be an effective communicator in both written and oral formats.

• Must be capable of applying PDCA techniques and using standard industry tools and equipment to perform metrology and ensure quality.

• Ability to develop recommended drawing / specification changes, interpret drawing nomenclature.

• Six Sigma certification/lean a plus.

• Knowledge of industry specifications and best practices appropriate to the area of expertise, is required.

• Must have ability to travel to provide support (may be up to 20% of the time).
