ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the planning and execution of business objectives across various departments, providing perspective of IT and information sharing between functional groups.
  • In coordination with the Discovery departments, identify suitable commercial systems to complement current applications and evaluate such systems to determine most suitable one for efficient data integration.
  • Collaborate with Discovery research scientists, programmers and project leader to deploy, support and maintain customized reporting tools.
  • Develop and promote best practices for scientific data capture, integration, and analysis
  • Experience:

  • Prior experience in software development or IT supporting Discovery in pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong working knowledge of modern web development, scientific computing, software development, cloud infrastructure, and databases
  • Hands on experience in managing chemistry and biology systems such as BIOVIA and IDBS suite of applications
  • Experience in programming such as python, java, javascript and database concepts such as Oracle SQL
  • General experience with Microsoft office tools, particularly Excel
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Up to date knowledge of informatics technology trends and utilities in general, and in particular for pharmaceutical research and development. Familiarity with informatics systems, relational databases, scripting languages, and data visualization tools. Working knowledge of scientific research applications development cycles, data management techniques and infrastructure requirements.
  • Knowledge of computer programming principles and database design
  • Goal setting with understanding of priority and impact to program, department and organization
  • Thorough understanding of R&D processes and scientific data life cycle.
  • Proven track record of leading complex scientific informatics projects. Ability to make project decisions independently.
