Position Overview:

The Director of Information Security is responsible for the design, development, and implement enterprise security solutions. This position is the highest-level technical expert and is responsible for managing both the security architecture and security engineering functions. This individual is responsible for monitoring and verifying that the network is appropriately protected from internal and external threats while enabling the organization to work effectively and productively. The position evaluates the risk versus the business value to mitigate and make appropriate recommendations for the business.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the planning, designing, and implementing of security measures created to safeguard access to resources, enterprise networks, computer systems, and data elements.
  • Configure, deploy, fine-tune, and monitor firewalls, proxies, security information and event management systems, intrusion detection systems, vulnerability scanners, multi-factor/robust authentication technologies, RADIUS servers, and logging servers.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices in risk management techniques and integrate new methods and tools as appropriate.
  • Monitor vendor and third-party security reports/lists and proactively patch vulnerabilities.
  • Works with business line executives to provide visibility into the security risks with a standard risk management approach to track, mitigate and report on the risks.
  • Engage with internal and external partners to help design, test, and implement state-of-the-art secure operating systems, applications, networks, and database products/solutions.
  • Oversees senior individual contributors such as security architects to provide them with a clear vision and goals. Information security is seen as an integral component of enterprise architecture and portfolio management.
  • Serve as the information security subject matter expert by providing guidance and consulting services to IT teams and business units on security-related matters.
  • Maintains proper documentation for all security products.
  • Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s in computer science or related field OR an appropriate amount of on-the-job experience.
  • Strong in-depth technical knowledge across the following information security capabilities: SIEM, WAF, Firewall, Zero-Trust, IAM, MFA, DNS, SOAR, Vulnerability Management, Penetration Testing, Threat Intelligence, Cryptography, DLP, CASB, XDR, Secure Web & Email Gateway.
  • Director-level experience in information security architecture.
  • Security certifications, such as CISSP, GCED, GCIH, etc., are a plus.
  • Ability to motivate and lead a team of Information Security staff supporting the organization’s goal and developing a security vision for the future.
  • Foster and build a collaborative working relationship with various stakeholders.
  • Expert in information security management and business risk management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with senior leaders at Verra and customers, up to and including C-level executives.
  • Must be adept at developing senior management presentations, enterprise communications, and logical and concise whitepapers with only general guidance from the CISO and others to support senior executive reviews and initiatives.
  • Must be proficient in leading cross-functional teams of senior employees to achieve objectives.
  • Should be adept at dealing with senior executives and constructively challenging ideas and products to achieve the desired result.
