Audio Video (AV) Project Engineer

The Audio Video (AV) Project Engineer is responsible from start (site survey/requirements gathering) through final commissioning, training, and final documentation including “as built” drawings. Project Engineers will work with sales to qualify customer business requirements, create designs and quotes using Dtools and be the technical experts for our sales team. Additionally, this role acts as the Project Manager for all jobs won which allows you to carry out your own design to completion and establish a strong working relationship with our customers.

Audio Video Design/Bid

  • Perform site surveys with Account Manager
  • Assist with gathering accurate business requirements
  • Discuss alternate options with customer during requirements gathering if needed to ensure customer is getting all desired functionality
  • Create Design, Bill of Materials (BOM), and Scope of Work (SOW) using Dtools
  • Create bid document in Dtools based on how customer wants it quoted
  • Submit bid document to Account Manager for review, pricing adjustments, and delivery to customer
  • Assist Account Manager with presentation of bid as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to customer technical staff as needed
  • Project Management

  • Establish connection with customer contact as Project Manager after contract is signed
  • Review and verify project design and equipment list
  • Create line drawings, schematics, and rack elevations as needed
  • Redline or create conduit and infrastructure drawings
  • Determine equipment lead times and trigger equipment orders to Procurement Manager based on longest lead time products
  • Schedule installation with customer contact as soon as equipment procurement and delivery dates are known
  • Request Field resources through Field Services Manager
  • Conduct kickoff/design review meeting with Field Services Manager and assigned field resources
  • Coordinate with customer contact and other trades as needed throughout duration of project
  • Provide weekly (or as requested by customer) progress reports, and list of potential risk factors/schedule conflicts to customer and implementation team
  • Perform site visits to assess readiness and to kick off installation
  • Perform installation walk site visits with field team and sales as needed
  • Perform implementation quality checks as needed and review of dependencies by other trades
  • Audio Video Project Engineer

  • Provide ongoing technical and logistical support to Field Services team to ensure accurate and efficient installation
  • Develop a test plan to ensure full functionality of design is tested
  • Perform or coordinate control system and/or Digital Signal Processor (DSP) programming
  • Perform system commissioning and testing (per plan)
  • Schedule and perform customer training of new system
  • Create and manage project punch list to completion
  • Coordinate close out documents (including change orders as needed) for proper invoicing of completed project
  • Create as-built documentation in Dtools
  • Perform other duties as required and/or requested by your manager
  • Perform Tier 3 and 4 support as needed (SME)
  • Education and Training

  • Degree or schooling in an Audio Video discipline and 3-5 years of AV design experience.
  • Audio Video DSP certifications are required along with working knowledge of control system programming and functionality.
  • Experience with CAD or D-tools and ability to read and markup architectural drawings.
  • Experience with new construction projects as well as remodel/refresh type projects.
  • Knowledge of Project Management techniques and control system programming certifications a plus. PLT and/or CTS certifications also a plus for this position.
