We are seeking a Senior SQL DBA for a full time, direct hire (perm) role with our direct. This position is 100% remote; must work PST hours. C2C is not available; must be eligible to work in the U.S. immediately without requiring visa sponsorship.

Role:

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in Snowflake and data modeling to join our client’s dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our SQL databases, with a focus on Snowflake data warehousing, while also contributing to the design and development of our data models. If you have a strong background in database administration, Snowflake, and data modeling, and are passionate about ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our data systems, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Database Management:

  1. Administer and maintain SQL databases, primarily Snowflake, ensuring their availability, scalability, and performance.

  2. Monitor database systems to proactively identify and resolve performance issues and bottlenecks.

  3. Implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.

  1. Data Modeling:

  1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design data models that align with business needs.

  2. Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support efficient data storage and retrieval.

  3. Ensure data models adhere to best practices and industry standards.

  1. Security and Compliance:

  1. Implement security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations.

  2. Perform regular audits and access controls to prevent unauthorized data access.

  1. Performance Tuning:

  1. Optimize SQL queries and database performance by fine-tuning configurations and indexing.

  2. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks to enhance system responsiveness.

  1. Automation and Scripting:

  1. Create scripts and automate routine database maintenance tasks for efficiency.

  2. Explore opportunities for enhancing database operations through automation.

  1. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:

  1. Investigate and resolve database-related issues, providing timely support to end-users and stakeholders.

  2. Perform root cause analysis to prevent recurring problems.

  1. Documentation:

  1. Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and data models.

  2. Train and support team members on database-related topics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a SQL DBA, with specific expertise in Snowflake database administration.

  • Strong knowledge of database design and data modeling principles.

  • Proficiency in SQL, scripting languages, and automation tools.

  • Familiarity with database security, compliance, and best practices.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

  • Certification in database administration or Snowflake is a plus.
