Sr Programmer - Symitar Position Overview
The Sr. Programmer Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate operation of the Company’s core operating systems and designated third party processing systems. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, assigned projects tasks, core maintenance, quality controls, technology/job script evaluations, implementation of hardware/software, report creation, troubleshooting (all levels), and afterhours on call responsibilities.
As a senior, this position emphasis’s the individuals advanced knowledge of programming related to the core and third-party systems. The senior has the ability to function as an independent contributor with little to no guidance or direction from their management team in regard to programming efforts. In addition, the Sr. Programmer will support the training effort and development of their peers and those in the Programmer/Analyst and System Analyst roles.
Essential Functions Senior Programming, Support, and Administration Act as a resource for peer and other technology team members, supporting questions/concerns regarding core and third party applications.
Provide training and guidance to non-senior programmer/analyst roles as needed.
Perform 2nd level review and approval for programming changes/edits as per our change management practices.
Independently assist in projects requiring complex programming to support conversions, integrations, enhancements, and mergers.
Participate in advanced troubleshoot efforts and problem-solving initiatives.
Act as project leader for annual core system and third-party system release updates.
Support vendor management and information security due diligence as needed.
Work with third-party vendors on various projects, issues, and other matters as assigned.
Collaborate with cross departmental teams and management on special assignments.
Partner with other Technology areas on project management, automation enhancements, end user support, efficiency efforts, and other issues as defined.
Support the data analytics efforts, importing/updating data and creating dash boards as needed.
Provide excellent verbal and written communication skills to appropriately explain programming/technology components to non-programming personnel.
Act as an independent contributing resource (with minimal support from direct management) for members of technology leadership to call upon for support outside of traditional channels.
Programming, Support, and Administration
Ensure successful completion of end of day, month, quarter and year end processing.
Troubleshoot core/third party system related problems occurring during processing, or issues reported by end users.
Analyze, document, and recommend solutions as corrective actions are initiated.
Develop, implement and maintain Symitar PowerOn programs.
Responsible for following change management and quality control procedures.
Assist in projects for all mergers, product enhancements, new product/services creation, and third part integrations.
Responsible for supporting software releases, system upgrades, file expansions and interfaces.
Respond to end users requests for reports and data exports.
Maintain security of systems at all times.
Responsible for assisting in disaster recovery preparation and planning.
Support maintenance surrounding server(s) that house the core operating system in collaboration with Information System/Security department.
Prepare recurring and ad-hoc reports for management.
Support programming efforts surrounding the development, implementation, and maintenance for assigned Sub -Core/Third Party systems.
Utilize internal ticketing system to respond to incoming requests, track issues, and document resolutions.
Maintain general understanding of end user operations surrounding supported core and third part systems.
Adhere to policies, procedures, best practices, and core values.
Other
Participate in rotating On Call schedule will be required to be available to troubleshoot technology issues before/after normal business hours via a VPN from home or remote location.
Participate in special assignments and projects as requested by management.
Assist in all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Knowledge & Experience: Applicants must possess the following qualifications or an equivalent combination of education and experience:
Education: 4 year degree in a technical or related area
Experience: 5 years of experience programming preferred
Desired experience: Programming Symitar Episys
Technical & Systems/Equipment Proficiencies:
Microsoft Office Suite, particularly: Outlook, Word, and Excel
Office equipment, such as computers, printers, copiers, and fax machines, as well as multi-line phone systems
Programming languages: PowerOn, SQL, COBOL, JAVA, XML
Cash Machine technologies/Teller and Banking Software
