Modis is currently hiring a Quality Engineer for an American designer, manufacturer, and service provider of control solutions for the aerospace and energy markets.
This position will operate onsite in Rockford, IL.
This position is responsible for providing customer and organizational support for quality & regulatory requirements, compliance, and system and process improvements. This position coordinates root cause and corrective action across multiple functions.
Evaluates procedures and work instructions that are required per the Quality Management System. Manages the review and approval of QMS documents.
Is actively involved in problem solving activities and ensuring the robustness of root cause and corrective action analysis (RCCA) when necessary.
May be responsible for a small number of customer accounts
Assembles and monitors appropriate company/customer metrics and proposes improvements for the performance of Quality. May analyze the metrics and provide recommendations based on the results.
Performs quality related activities associated with the nonconforming material control process.
Performs advanced quality planning processes. Examples include Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)/First Article Inspection (FAI), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
Acts as the customer liaison/advocate for Company compliance to customer quality requirements and customer satisfaction relative to qualify of products and services.
Facilitates and represents Quality during internal/external audits.
Proactively Identifies and drives resolution to systemic issues within the organization.
Uses Continuous Improvement principles, methods and tools.
May be required to support other Company plants/divisions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to drive Root Cause Corrective Action concepts/processes, including the 8D process to eliminate cause(s) in internal processes, or external processes when necessary.
Demonstrates effective organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication (including presentations). Able to manage multiple tasks with varying priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
Demonstrates ability to effectively work in cross-functional teams, as a team member or lead, and work with various levels within the organization and with customers.
Demonstrates an understanding of interpretation of engineering specifications, mechanical drawings, and/or electrical schematics, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Demonstrates knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100 and TS16949 (site specific) requirements and their intent to ensure compliance of the Quality Management System.
Is familiar with regulatory and compliance requirements. (Site specific examples- FAA, EASA, JCAB, CAAC, etc.)
Demonstrates a basic- knowledge of Six Sigma principles, tools and methodology, and advocates utilization of the quality planning tools.
Demonstrates knowledge of APQP, the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and/or First Article Inspection (FAI) processes. Demonstrates a strong knowledge of process capability concepts, including but not limited to Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques.
Knowledge of non-conforming material control and material disposition processes.
Ability to drive and implement activities to meet customer quality expectations. Recognizes customer service as a critical factor. Handles customer politely and professionally.
Education or Formal Training
Associates (or international equivalent) degree in a related technical field is required, or a 4 year degree in business related field with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in quality related activities, required.
Green belt certification (or equivalent CI/RCCA certification) preferred.
Prior experience in quality, engineering, machine shop, assembly or functional testing related experience is preferred.
Prior experience in Quality Management Systems experience (document management, internal and/or external audits, nonconforming material control, and root cause and corrective action processes), preferred.
Demonstrates solid computer skill including MS Outlook, Work, Excel, and Power Point. Knowledge of MS Project-and Visio a plus.
