A FULLY REMOTE Sr. Mentor PCB Designer position is available courtesy of Modis

Rate range: $40.00 - $65.00/hour (DOE)

DUTIES:

1. Analyze instrument design requirements, performance requirements and goals, cost and schedule constraints, etc. to devise practical printed circuit board layouts which can be most economically produced by existing printed circuit board and manufacturing facilities, methods and technologies.

2. Review the design documentation package from the project engineer to ensure correctness and completeness before starting any layout activity. Interface with various other departments to ensure all requirements (electrical, mechanical, assembly, fabrication vendor, etc.) are addressed and met.

3. Design and/or revise printed board artworks requiring a high degree of accuracy and utilizing standard graphic aids and/or CAD procedures and standards. This includes the generation of all necessary CAD data, parts and constraint layouts as required per individual tasks. Contribute in the overall design of the printed circuit board with respect to fabrication methods, manufacturability, layout technology, cost and schedule.

4. Investigate current and new P.C. Board Vendors capabilities and requirements and In-House manufacturing capabilities and processes. Determine layout requirements for P.C. Board department, using information found in investigation. This is to be an ongoing process.

5. Determine P.C. Board Layout procedures. Maintain procedures periodically to stay up to date.

6. Help out with P.C. Board scheduling when the supervisor is absent. Provide inputs for budgeting.

7. Create the complete documentation package and follow through on design changes and/or modifications on both development and production type printed circuit boards. Package contains such documents as component layouts, schematics, fabrication drawing, staking, purchase print drawings, etc. Package also includes the transfer of necessary CAD data to vendors and production.

Knowledge and Experience:

· Two-year associate degree in electronic technology or equivalent.

· 5 or more years of experience in printed circuit board layout and support drafting, with extensive knowledge of both double sided and multi-layer board layout and fabrication technology.

· Experience in surface mount technology experience and general hybrid/ASIC technology experience is required.

· Three to four years’ experience on PCB Layout system with at least one year of Mentor Xpedition.

· DX Designer schematic capture and XPCB Layout preferred.

· Knowledge of Cadence Concept/Allegro is a plus.

· Knowledge of personal computers and available peripherals (modems, scanners, etc.) and general software packages (MS Word, Access, etc.) is preferred.
